We will choose one of these sites to relax, and witness a ritual demonstration performed by an apprentice who also has made anthropology studies. We will learn from him (her) the way how peoples of the Andes had related to the over natural word the way how the lay out the ritual offerings, how they communicate with their protector spirits, and most importantly, how they relate amongst themselves to search for harmony. |
Afterwards we will enjoy a picnic lunch and proceed with our hike towards the sacred sites of the Inkas:

Early breakfast and we’ll take our transportation north of Cusco to arrive in 45 minutes to the traditional village of Chinchero
We’ll visit the church, the archaeological sites, agricultural terraces, craftsmen, and also… a house-workshop where some 10 ladies have gathered to perform a weaving demonstration.
Each one of them will demonstrate one part of the weaving process: From shearing the wool, washing, spinning dying. The lay out of the looms, and the diverse techniques learned since early times: Young girls start by doing strings, then belts, until they prove their ability and are ready to weave a lliqlla or a poncho. (Garments).
Lunch time will be shared with these ladies. They have prepared “Watia” a sort of dirt oven where they bake potatoes and beans. Whilst our cook at the hotel has prepared an international picnic. Sharing our food will allow us the opportunity of talking in a relaxed way and learn more about the life of the women in the Andes, their desires and their way of approaching challenges of life and poverty.
Later we head up to visit Moray; in this place the Inkas built a complex of terraces, water canals, drains in form of a huge stadium. Said to be the ancient system of agricultural experimentation.
Later we will walk to the salt mines; a pleasant hike downhill will take us trough the thousands of ponds where the salty water evaporates to the sun.
We will have the chance of interacting with the peasants at work before arriving to the Valley, where we take our transportation back to the lodge. |

We drive back, make a visit of the market and head up to Yucay.
In this place we will be welcomed by the local peasants that will make a demonstration on the farming process. There is a lot to learn; depending on the season:
The ancient terraces, as well as the ponds and the water channels are still under intensive use since Inka times.
Plowing, planting, or harvesting is always possible our visitor may learn how to manipulate the tools, and taste the product of the crops.
A picnic lunch will be shared with the local farmers.
